Strike planned by Spanish air traffic controllers
05.08.10
Spain's air traffic controllers have threatened to strike in mid August, which would affect hundreds of thousands of UK passengers. The strike is to start on August 18 and last for 3 days, although both the date and duration have yet to be confirmed.
The more than 2000 controllers have voted to strike in protest at government plans to change working hours and reduce overtime pay. The Spanish Government said in the event of a strike it will seek to maintain ‘minimum services’.
