Mexican reinstate flights !
11.08.10
Mexicana has reinstated its flights between Gatwick Airport and Mexico City. The airline entered bankruptcy protection in both Mexico and Spain last week, but said it would continue to operate its four times weekly Gatwick service. Over the weekend it announced the Gatwick flights had been suspended, along with 17 other routes, and started to book passengers on to other airlines. However, it reinstated the flights - plus its Madrid route - yesterday.
The airline's staff are reported to be in talks with potential buyers, with Mexico's other major airline AeroMexico suggested as a possibility. However, in an official statement, Mexicana warned passengers planning to travel in the ‘immediate future’ to consider alternatives whilst it seeks to resolve its financial difficulties.
