Virgin Atlantic want mobile phone boarding cards
12.03.08
Using their mobile phones to check-in and receive their boarding card could give passengers a ‘greater choice’ and save time, Virgin Atlantic has said. A spokesman for the airline added that although it is too early to say exactly how popular the service would be, sending passengers a boarding card to their phone, which could be read straight from the device, could save a lot of time.
Janine Donovan, press officer at Virgin Atlantic, said: ‘We believe it will be an option and that it will give them more choice of check-in options. The fact that most people have a mobile phone and it is with them most of the time offers a low cost, powerful way to check them in.’
Up-to-date departure information, such as gate numbers, could also be sent straight to passengers' phones, he added.
