Monarch pulls flights from Worldspan and Sabre
14.05.08
Monarch's scheduled flights will be unavailable on Worldspan and Sabre from June 1, when the holiday airline withdraws from the UK Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP). Its flights will still be bookable via Amadeus and Galileo using an alternative Instant Pay system, Travel Weekly reports, however, agents will be required to enter the details of their own or their customer's credit card on the booking, otherwise bookings will not be confirmed.
The system will be in operation for sales via Amadeus and Galileo from Monday (May 19). An airline spokesman said: ‘We decided to withdraw flights from Worldspan and Sabre as we have noticed a significant fall in business and Amadeus and Galileo are strongest in our core market.’
Monarch will emulate easyJet by signing non-GDS suppliers to its Application Programming Interface (API), which aims to stop websites screen-scraping fares, the travel newspaper adds. The spokesman said: ‘We are looking to work with partners with whom we can connect on an API basis. Galileo and Amadeus have this functionality.’
