Investigation launched after security failed to stop 5 inch knife

A passengers flew from Gatwick to Inverness with a steak knife in her hand luggage after airport security missed the weapon, the Daily Record reports. Hotel owner Karen Hanna, 46, discovered the knife on the Flybe flight, but she was so scared she did not alert staff on the flight in case she was arrested.
Mrs Hanna told the newspaper: ‘The knife could have been a pretty nasty piece of work in the wrong hands. That it ended up on the plane without being detected doesn't reflect well on the airport's security.’
Gatwick Airport chiefs launched a probe after hi-tech security scanners failed to spot the five-inch blade.
