Oven smoke causes flight emergency
16.08.10
A holiday plane made an emergency landing at Gatwick yesterday after an onboard oven began smoking. The Thomas Cook flight TSX975K was carrying 330 passengers and crew from Manchester to Dalaman in Turkey when smoke was seen coming from the galley.
The Boeing 767 landed at Gatwick at 08:40 as a precautionary measure and all the passengers were taken off. Following an investigation it was discovered that packaging in an oven had been smoking. Passengers were allowed to re-board just before midday, however, because of flying time restrictions, the plane returned to Manchester to allow for a change of crew before it resumed its journey to Dalaman.
