Problems at Gatwick Airport

A reader writes about problems on the Inverness - Gatwick route, or more specifically about problems at the airport. He says:
'I took a Flybe flight from Inverness to Gatwick to connect with another by BA to Geneva. The Flybe flight was 10 minutes early into Gatwick, but the pilot told us nobody could find steps so we sat in the plane for a while.'
'When we got into the terminal the luggage belt broke. Nobody came to fix it for some 20 minutes and then it broke again. The result was that an entire plane load of passengers stood around with zero ground staff keeping us informed and we did not set out with our luggage for the North terminal for 1½ hours after touch down.'
'By the time we arrived at the check in desk, we had just missed the connection to Geneva. We were advised to make a complaint report, which we did with the help of a kind lady on the complaints desk.'
'We received nothing from Flybe / Servisair (their handing agents at Gatwick), despite sending a reminder. So we try very hard to avoid Gatwick and tell all our friends of our experience. The infrastructure at Gatwick is crumbling and the managers could not care less. That hurts Flybe and Inverness based businesses.'
