18.04.08
British Airways announced today that it is to launch services from Gatwick Airport to New York JFK on October 27, when it launches its winter schedule. It is also adding some short haul flights, but will shift its flights to Warsaw back to Heathrow.
The new Gatwick flights mean that BA flies from London to JFK 62 times each week, with as the new flights operating in addition to its 55 weekly flights from Heathrow. They will be operated using a four class Boeing 777 - that will be moved from Heathrow - with First, Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller cabins.
BA will also start new short haul routes from Gatwick this October, with daily services to Oporto and Valencia. A second daily service from Gatwick to Alicante and Turin will also be added from the end of October. However, flights to Warsaw will move from Gatwick back to Heathrow in October, having only moved in the opposite direction last year.
