Airport sale ‘this week’

BAA could secure a deal to sell Gatwick for £1.5bn this week, according to Sky News. The satellite TV station's City editor, Mark Kleinman, said: ‘A deal could be announced as early as Tuesday [tomorrow], if the two sides can thrash out final details. These include the crucial matter of establishing the price that GIP will pay for the airport!’
‘These conversations are expected to continue tomorrow. While there will be lots of tough negotiating in both camps, my understanding is that a price-tag of around £1.5bn - just below the Regulated Asset Base benchmark placed on Gatwick by the CAA - would be acceptable to buyer and seller.’
