Roadworks near Gatwick
29.06.10
New road markings and more than 7500 road studs to improve safety on the M23 are to be installed near Gatwick this week. The Highways Agency is doing the work, which will be along virtually the entire length of the motorway, between the A25 bridge over the road in Surrey to junction 11, for the A264, at Crawley.
The month-long works will take place between 20:00 and 06:00 each night with lane closures, beginning near junction 9 at Gatwick Airport. One or more lanes on the main carriageway will be kept open at all times, but there will be slip road closures with signed diversions. Only one slip road closure will be in place at a time and it is anticipated work will take a maximum of only one night at each location.
There will be a temporary 50 mph speed limit and narrow lanes will be in operation where necessary. The work is weather dependent.
